Kahina Meziant
Recruitment Manager
About
Kahina's work spans migration, public space and public institutions, driven by a longstanding interest in the conditions that let people and places thrive. She has worked in journalism, academic research and community organising in Brussels, Paris, London, Tunis and New York. Following a PhD in Human Geography at Northumbria University, she carried out the research for Safer Parks, a Home Office-funded evaluation of multi-agency work to make parks safer and more inclusive for women, girls and marginalised groups. She went on to hold a postdoctoral fellowship at the CUNY Graduate Center, and co-founded Free Clinic NYC, a network of nearly 100 therapists offering free support to organisers and communities whose access to care has been systemically limited. She writes both academically and publicly on questions of home, belonging and care within institutions.
Kahina joined Public Practice in Autumn 2026 as Recruitment Manager to support our Associate Programme recruitment, working closely with candidates and local authority partners to build inclusive, skilled placemaking teams across the public sector.
