About
Larry Botchway is an architect, tutor and engagement enthusiast with experience in a variety of sectors. He co-founded the socially minded design and engagement practice POoR (Power Out of Restriction) collective.
Selected as one of the Royal Institute of British Architects rising stars of 2023, he has significant experience in placemaking, designing buildings and developing urban strategies, with particular experience working with public sector clients across the UK, including Hackney Council, London Borough of Bexley and Basildon Borough Council.
Having worked at We Made That, Haworth Tompkins Architects, and Perpendicular Architecture, Botchway has notable experience working with cultural institutions such as TATE, LW Theatres and the London Theatre Company.

During his placement as a Senior Planning Engagement Officer, Larry supported community engagement around major planning initiatives. He organised engagement events, prepared accessible communication materials, and helped ensure residents’ feedback informed planning work. His contributions strengthened inclusive engagement practices and improved transparency in the planning process.
