About

Abigail is an experienced architect with a focus on residential and community projects. She has worked with various clients, including charities, housing developers, private clients, and local authorities.

Before joining the Autumn Cohort 2023, she worked alongside local authorities in London and Bristol, where she contributed to developing 16 new homes for social rent on a brownfield site in north Bristol.

Abigail strongly believes in the importance of design ambition and quality in creating a positive impact on the built environment and its users. In addition to her architectural work, she is a design tutor at the Welsh School of Architecture and a guest reviewer at the University of Bath, allowing her to stay engaged in critical conversations about the built environment.

During her placement, Abigail focused on reviewing development options for various properties, from smaller assets like houses and garages to larger ones like an adult day centre and an AP School. Her tasks included assessing feasibility, creating massing models, aligning with council objectives and navigating financial appraisals. Abigail also contributed to process improvements for efficient project delivery and strategic decision-making.

Her role involved multiple design-related tasks, primarily developing a design code for a sustainable urban extension in Rugby. Abigail also advised on design matters for planning applications, contributed to local plan policies, advised on strategic briefs, supported town centre regeneration and wrote shopfront design guidance.
