Preena Mistry

Project Manager

About

Preena is an architect with extensive professional experience in the architectural industry, predominantly on small to medium-scale residential, commercial and cultural projects in Leeds and London, including listed buildings and conservation areas.

She has worked with a range of consultants and clients, including developers, large corporations, small businesses and domestic clients, to take several projects from concept design successfully through to planning and tender and overseen construction on multiple projects.

Before joining the Spring Cohort 2023, Preena worked on a new build nursery, engaging nursery children within the design process to create a sensory room for children with Special Education Needs. Preena has a particular interest in using bottom-up design processes to build briefs that ensure spaces and places consider inclusivity and accessibility for all users.

Spring Cohort 2023

Rochdale Development Agency

As Project Manager, Preena assisted with delivering the Heywood Masterplan in Rochdale during her placement. She took the project from feasibility stages into construction, transforming a much-loved but deteriorating 1960s Civic Centre into a multi-use community cultural hub. This involved managing the project brief, scope, budget, procurement and programme in line with funding agreements and thorough engagement with stakeholders within the Council, partnered charities—the building leaseholders—and local community and arts groups. The engagement resulted in a larger scheme that better met building user and community needs and received £2.25m in additional council funding.
