Pre-application (pre-app) is a fundamental part of the planning process. There is no one standard approach to pre-apps and there are currently significant variances in pre-application services and fees across Authorities. However, when successful, it can contribute significantly to achieving design quality in larger schemes by working collaboratively to address issues earlier upstream – or planning ahead.
